LSC Regional Roadshow arrives in Yorkshire and the Humber
Ray Dowd - LSC's agenda for change champion
Mark Haysom, Chief Executive of the LSC and Ray Dowd the LSC's agenda for change Champion have begun a series
of road shows within the regions in June and July. The road shows will initially be targeted at FE Colleges
but later will focus on other key delivery partners, including schools, training providers and community
groups.
Major findings from the road shows, will be evaluated and fed back to the sector and will form the basis of
further action towards the transformation agenda.
Yorkshire and the Humber's road show, which took place on 16 June, was well-attended by principals from
across the region. Mark Haysom, opening the event, stressed how important it was to him personally to hear
at first hand the issues affecting colleges. He remains passionate at being able to see colleges continue to
deliver success in a constantly changing environment.
Ray and Mark outlined the changes that had happened since the first two rounds of road shows and highlighted
the challenges that the Further Education sector and the LSC faced to make it a success.
Ray comments: "Overall, we felt the response from colleges to what has taken place was very positive and that
agenda for change was being well received. I listed 12 major challenges for the future, in particular how we
encourage adult participation in the face of reduced funding and how we ensure coherence and quality relating
to the 14-19 agenda.
"It was clear from the meeting that colleges are now starting to think about the implications of the White
Paper and the next stages of agenda for change for their sector and it is important that the LSC provides
clarity and leadership on how we collectively deliver what is best for learners and employers."
