£19 million funding boost for the redevelopment of Castle College
The Sheffield College has announced that its funding body, the LSC, has approved a £19 million capital bid that will
ensure the ambitious plans become a reality to transform Castle College into the region's very first, purpose-built vocational
college.
The new building will embrace the latest energy conservation with solar panels and wind turbines on the main roof, which will
generate almost a third of the buildings electricity supply.
Julie Byrne, Director of Castle of College, welcomed the confirmation of the LSC's funding and said: "Employability is at the
heart of every thing we do at the Castle College. The new facilities will greatly enhance the work related learning element of
all our programmes of study as we continue to work closely with employers to improve our courses and make them vocationally
relevant."
