CALL FOR YORKSHIRE BUSINESSES TO ENTER NATIONAL TRAINING AWARDS
Winners of National Training Awards 2006
The LSC is keen to encourage businesses to enter the 2007 National Training Awards, which recognise and celebrate the organisations and their people who create success through training. The National Training Awards, which were set up 21 years ago, are the UK's number one accolade for businesses, organisations and individuals who have achieved lasting excellence through learning. Clive Howarth, skills development director for the LSC in Yorkshire and the Humber, comments: "The LSC has sponsored a number of workshops throughout the region for individuals, employers and partnerships that are interested in entering. A National Training Award is one of the most highly respected and recognised accolades in the learning and skills sector. The Awards are open to any organisation and I hope businesses from this region will take the time to enter. Last year we had 66 entries in Yorkshire and Humber, and 57 entries in 2005. We hope to beat that this year. Although the standard of entries each year has been phenomenal, I know there are businesses in this region which could easily win an award for the commitment they show to their staff. I want to wish everyone from Yorkshire and the Humber good luck with their entries." Winners demonstrate achievements across a vast spectrum of activity, whether that activity is based in the workplace or in the community. The common quality of all winners is that they demonstrate significant benefits from exceptionally effective learning and skills development. Winners show good people development and outstanding results by putting what has been learned into practice. Last year's winners from Yorkshire and the Humber included Luminary Solutions Ltd which had a training-culture approach ensuring the company's rapid expansion and Morrison Utility Services which provided training for people to become electricity metre fitters. Previous entrants have included charities, individuals, multi-national companies, volunteers and the self-employed. For further information on entering the awards visit: www.nationaltrainingawards.com. Entries for the awards close on 27 April 2007. |
