Extending technology training to the community

The opening of a new extension, funded by the LSC and Yorkshire Forward, took place this autumn at the Technology Centre in Malton, North Yorkshire.

The LSC, together with Yorkshire Forward, has provided £300,000 to support the project which is a key part of the North Yorkshire Sub-regional Action Plan and the drive to meet the needs of the engineering industry in the area.

Opened by Mark Haysom, chief executive of the LSC with Lord Derwent, patron of Derwent Training Association also present to welcome dignitaries and guests, the new facility opens up opportunities for local employers, schools and the community who will benefit from having access to cutting edge equipment and safe learning facilities. New conference and meeting room facilities form part of the new extension and offer a professional environment for any business.

Mark Haysom said: "Opening the new technology centre is an honour. This project demonstrates how an excellent partnership can work to help the alignment of investment opportunities. It will ensure we have quality provision for employers and the local economy and the project has illustrated how public sector bodies can work together quickly and effectively to make the most of new opportunities that will benefit individuals, businesses and communities."
