Key partners from the Yorkshire and the Humber region recently visited the future site for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London to discuss how the region's businesses, individuals and communities can both support and benefit from the Games.

Emma Hoddinott, skills development manager for the LSC in Yorkshire and the Humber, said: "The visit to the Olympic Games site reinforced our vision that the Olympic and Paralympic Games offers great opportunities for the region, both before, during and after 2012."

'Showcasing our Talents'

The Yorkshire and Humber Regional Strategic Partnership has since held a briefing event to highlight how the Further Education (FE) sector can benefit from the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Entitled 'Showcasing Our Talents', speakers at the event included Rebecca di Corpo of the Yorkshire Committee for the 2012 Games; Sharon Pickering of the Regional Skills Partnership; Kate Potter of PODIUM, the further education and higher education unit for the 2012 Games; and Eugene Incerti of UK Skills.
