PRAISE FOR OUTSTANDING NORTH YORKSHIRE LEARNING PROVIDERS
L-R: Alan Challis, partnership director for the LSC The LSC in Yorkshire and the Humber has been praising the 'excellent' standards of a group of rural North Yorkshire Training providers. Three organisations located within a small part of the region - Selby College, The Academy and Derwent Training - have each achieved important accolades and achievements for their training provision. Notably, Selby College has been named as Yorkshire's first 'Outstanding College' by Ofsted. The announcement followed its recent Ofsted report where the college achieved a Grade 1 from the education inspectorate scoring top ratings in all areas of its inspection. The College further demonstrated its high standards and the calibre of its students with its first 'Skills Olympics' Event. Attended by LSC regional director Margaret Coleman, the event showcased the skills of students from the art, beauty, business, catering and fashion departments. Presenting the awards to the students, Margaret commented: "I am really impressed by the work of the students at Selby College, which shows that good progress is being made in our region to equip learners with the skills needed to compete in the national - and global - economy."
