The LSC is encouraging businesses to take part in this year’s Enterprise Week, set to be bigger and better than ever. Taking place from 17-23 November 2008 it will be part of the first ever Global Entrepreneurship Week, which has more than 60 countries signed up to run their own versions of the event.

Enterprise Week is coordinated by Make Your Mark, a national organisation which runs a variety of initiatives throughout the year aimed at unlocking the UK’s enterprise potential. Last year, 5,000 events across the UK attracted over half a million participants who all got involved in the celebration of entrepreneurship.

Jane Walton, head of campaigns at Make Your Mark, comments: “Enterprise Week is a fantastic opportunity for businesses and other organisations to showcase their current achievements or to launch a new initiative.

“To be part of the first ever Global Entrepreneurship Week is an exciting landmark. Each year, participation from organisations and budding entrepreneurs continues to grow. This year is set to be the biggest yet.”

Thousands of events are scheduled to take place around the UK during Enterprise Week in November 2008. In Yorkshire and the Humber, events include the Red Paperclip Challenge at Leeds College of Art and Design and Planning for Success, organised by BiG: Make it Your Business, based in Sheffield.

Margaret Coleman, regional director for the LSC in Yorkshire and the Humber, comments: “Enterprise Week encourages enterprising behaviour to flourish which will have a positive impact on education and business across the region. It is a fantastic opportunity for hundreds of businesses across Yorkshire and the Humber to showcase what they do all year round.”

The Enterprise Week website has a full listing of activities which include competitions, workshops, speakers and launches.
